Based on decades of accumulated development achievements, Samyang Comtech has accomplished core results in strategic national defense sectors, including composite armor for K1 and K2 tanks, aircraft fuel tank protection materials, and ballistic vests/helmets. Currently, we are simultaneously conducting projects toward future technologies, such as research on next-generation lightweight armor, space composite structures, and eco-friendly protection materials. Our achievements do not remain in the past; they are always expanding toward the future.

1990~

Establishment of Research Institute

1990. Established the affiliated research institute.
1994. Developed and supplied 4 types of components, including the Armored Wing ballistic plates for UH-60 helicopters.
1997. Developed the first fragmentation-proof vest for the Korean military.

2000~

Development of New Ballistic Helmets

2003. Developed a new type of ballistic helmet.
2004. Supplied ballistic products for troops dispatched to Iraq.
2005. Development project for 4 components, including gunner/passenger seats for the Surion (KUH) helicopter.
2008. Developed special armor for K2 tanks and ballistic ceramics for K21 armored vehicles.
2009. Participated in the Future Soldier System (ballistics sector) and Inert Reactive Armor application research projects.

2010~

Development of Add-on Armor for Export-model Chunmoo

2011. Material localization development project for Surion (KUH) ballistic panel assemblies.
2013. Developed and supplied multi-purpose body armor.
2014. Developed and began mass production of ballistic plates for small tactical vehicles and add-on armor for wheeled combat vehicles.
2015. Developed 4 types of components for LAH (Light Armed Helicopter); Material localization development for Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAV).
2016. Developed add-on armor for wheeled anti-aircraft gun armored vehicles.
2017. Developed add-on armor for export-model wheeled armored vehicles and command post wheeled armored vehicles.
2018. Developed and began mass production of add-on armor for the crew cabin of export-model Chunmoo (MLRS).

Development & Mass Production of AAV Appliqué Armor Kits

2020. Developed and began mass production of appliqué armor kit assemblies for Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAV).
